Le Art Show

In celebration of our hard work this year, Creativity School students and I put on an art show entitled Asia Past, Asia Future: Creativity School 2009 Art Showcase. Parents came bearing gifts of smiles and support, children gave speeches, and many many many photos were taken (we are in Asia after all). The students had three works on display, all examples of traditional Asian art created through contemporary processes: Japanese suminagashi (marbled paper that we made by mixing shaving cream and watercolor paints), Korean masks, and landscape scrolls. For me, the day was magic--to see how proud my students were to show off their work, to see how proud the parents were of their nothing-short-of-brilliant artist children, and to feel proud of myself for my role in the creation of it all.
